The Umbrella is the second episode of the first season.
Plot[]
The episode begins with Tiger calling Kipper to go fishing together to which Kipper replies that he doesn't own a fishing rod. Tiger suggests bringing anything long to tie the string to, like a stick. Kipper, on his suggestion, finds an umbrella in his closet and makes his way to the river.
On the way to the river, Kipper plays around with his umbrella and tries stuff like gliding down with it, attempting to use it on a small gray cloud (which doesn’t rain down on him and instead disappears), and trudging through a rainstorm and ends up getting splashed with water. While all of this is happening, the scene cuts to Tiger, still trying to fish and wonders where Kipper is. As Kipper makes his way to the lake, he finds a skateboard near some trash and tries out some tricks, only to trip off a rock and go flying. As the high winds push him up, he flies up into space, where he hangs onto the crescent moon. But then, the moon tips over causing him to fall back down to Earth. He tries to use his umbrella to save him, but due to how fast he’s falling, the umbrella flips upwards, and he splashes down to the river. Despite this, he manages to use his umbrella as a boat to get to Tiger, who reels him in, saying that Kipper is the first thing he caught all morning and admits that fishing is very boring.
The episode ends with both Tiger and Kipper using their umbrellas as boats to wander in the river in search of fish, as Kipper manages to see some fish and Tiger tries to find some, and asks Kipper to show him, as they swim off.

Trivia[]
- This episode marks the first appearance of Kipper's best friend, Tiger, and the ducks.
- As Kipper is seen playing around the umbrella, he has no dialogue for the majority of the episode.
- This is the only Kipper cartoon to be written by Bob Baker.
- This is also the first episode to show a vehicle, in this case, a biplane. Technically the skateboard counts too since it’s rideable.
- In this episode, Kipper has a blue telephone and Tiger has a red telephone. During the rest of the series, it was switched to where Kipper has a red telephone and Tiger has a blue telephone.
- This is also the first time Kipper went to the moon, albeit temporarily.
- Tiger breaks the fourth wall saying “I wonder where Kipper’s gone to”, as he looks at the screen, before continuing to fish.
- In real life, an umbrella wouldn't be able to fly to the moon.
- A crescent moon is a sphere, so in real life, it wouldn't be tipped over by Kipper.
- Kipper went to space, and we wouldn't be able to breathe, as there is no oxygen in space.
- When Kipper falls back down to earth from space he doesn't suffer burns from Atmospheric entry (a.k.a Reentry).
- The umbrellas would be tipped over with Kipper and Tiger riding in them.
